Making Sockets Interesting

Would you believe that this photo was achieved without a macro lens? I mean, I guess it’s not necessary for how big sockets are, technically, but taking a photograph that nails this kind of tight focus & perspective without one takes a little skill. Apart from that, the photographer, Robert S. Donovan, manages to make socket wrenches interesting to look at. This, also, is no small task, since as you can see they are pretty uniform and not the most exciting tool in the box. It just goes to show that playing with perspective can take you a long way, as long as you know what you’re doing.
