Last Color in Autumn

Today’s photo is a lovely example of the beauty found in autumn. It’s, of course, crab apples. These little beads of color are often the last hold-outs on the trees when the frosts begin, and are quintessential just-before-winter foliage. This photograph is such a great capture of them, I think, because of the mix of tight focus with the brilliant blue of the sky behind them. The color contrast is truly stunning, not to mention unique for a depiction of late autumn. This photograph is by Jeff Hutchison, who was kind enough to publish it under creative commons.
