Concept Contrast can be Everything

This photograph, by Chelsea (no last name given,) does a great job of capturing the essence of New York City. It is the perfect conceptual contrast of neat, clean and moneyed to dirty, utilitarian city. And that is literally all the viewer gets; just that contrast. The man in the photo could be an LA executive trying to secure new talent, New York art student trying to impress a future client, or even a Kalamazoo attorney on a write-off business trip. The thing is, it really doesn’t matter who he is. All that matters is that beautifully executed contrast of elements. That is the poetry of the photo.
