From Smith & Wesson to Work of Art

Isn’t it always interesting to see an item, usually typecast by its function, in an entirely different context? Case in point: this photograph. Guns are usually photographed to show off their utility, their danger or their, for lack of a better term, “badassness”. But this photograph is re-casting the gun to simply an element in an artistic composition, without any political or utilitarian undertones. In this photograph by Greta Ceresini, there is a gun. But, this is not just a photograph of a gun. It is a work of art in and of itself. (That said, it certainly is a nice looking gun, which is part of why the photograph works. I sure hope its owner has one of those nice sentinel cases or something equivalent  for it!)
