Don’t forget the Grime

Aren’t the textures in this photo just amazing? The grime may obstruct the fine details of the machinery – I certainly can’t tell where the pipes end and the pneumatic connectors begin – but it’s a fact that if everything in this were clean and shiny metal, it wouldn’t be nearly as engaging an image. Sometimes a little (or a lot) of grime can be the defining factor for what gives a photo’s subject its character. It can literally make or break the photograph itself. And this photo is a prime example of that. The photographer for today’s featured photo is Shane Gorski.
