The Old Wheelbarrow

Gosh, so much to say about this photograph! Doesn’t it feel like something you might encounter in your grandparents’ back yard, or on a farm? It is almost as if, just by existing, it is trying to force memories of times and things past into your mind as you look at it. Well, actually, this photo was taken in Perth, Australia by a very talented young photographer named Daniel Lee. Most of Daniel’s photos seem to be urban landscapes, which gives this photograph even more dimension. The whole idea of a wheelbarrow in this century evokes an almost quiet, rural garden. But is this photo also just another urban landscape? And if it is, that is quite a juxtaposition. And it raises the question, where and for whom? Certainly, this wheelbarrow is a story – someone’s story.
