Glass in Crystal

Just look at all the reflective surfaces in this photograph. Don’t even try using flash for this baby – the light has to be just right. Photographer Andrew Magill explains, “Saw this in an art gallery in La Jolla, Ca. Apparently they cut slots into a big chunk of crystal, and then precisely fit glass into that slot. There’s no coloration in it, but when you look at different angles there’s all kind of beautiful colorful refractions inside.” Gosh, could you imagine cutting glass to fit into that huge crystal? It must have been tricky to produce this affect, but is really is beautiful, and bravo to Andrew for capturing such a nice shot of it!
