Programmer of Tomorrow

This photo was taken by Ruiwen Chua on Software Freedom Day in Singapore in the open air foyer of the Bugis National Library. I love this, not just because it’s an engaging and well-composed photograph, but because it’s sort of like looking at the future. Okay, so this kid isn’t programming aerospace engineering or CNC statistical process control software just yet, but we can see the enthusiasm he has for engaging with technology in his face, and we know that he’s destined to succeed in a world saturated with every kind of computer-automated process imaginable. This photograph is an optimistic, hopeful one. And we could all use a little more of that.
