Lead Glass

Check out this awesome lead glass window and frame in Edinburgh, Scotland! Stained glass can be tricky to photograph, because the colored rays of light become part of your composition just as much as any material object, and because there sometimes it not enough light inside, so it’s hard to do a composition at all outside of the window itself. I like how this photographer,¬†Graham van der Wielen, handles these issues. The bright, textured stone wall provides a nice contrast to the ornate window while really making it feel almost organically there. And the colored rays of light give that stone wall some variety. This photograph is just an all around nice handling of a lead glass window.
