This photo by beckstei (no real name given), is of the Tensegrity art installation by Kenneth Snelson. While you may be used to seeing stainless steel tubing and stainless steel stampings used for a variety of industrial products, the metal makes for a very attractive visual composition. With its shiny and non-corrosive finish, stainless steel is becoming a widely used material for new and interesting applications. From household products to purely mechanical equipment, stainless steel has found its way into our homes, gardens, and even into the clothing and accessories in our closets. While I doubt we will see this metal replace traditional gold and silver for treasured jewelry…I would be surprised to see stainless steel as the “new silver” accessory of choice.
