Tales from the Laudromat

For anyone that has ever sat in the warmth of whirring washers and giant dryers while watching the odd antics of strangers washing all manner of items, you will appreciate this photo from a visit to the laundromat. The laundromat equipment featured in this particular shot may not have all the bells and whistles associated with the sleek and energy efficient models gracing the showrooms of Sears, but they have an element of style all their own. I love the decorate metal and brightly colored accents on the units featured in this photo. You can almost picture the bright orange plastic chairs lined up along a wall and small counters topped with the various items of clothing that await folding. I have to admit that getting my own washer and dryer when I bought my first house was one element I looked forward to the most. No waiting for a free dryer or popping coins into a unit where your jeans are half dried. I also looked forward to folding my clothes in the privacy of my own home, without creepy men watching me handle my unmentionables or little old ladies demonstrating the “proper” folding techniques for my towels and sheets.
