When you think about precision metal stamping and sheet metal processing, you probably think about the wide variety of industrial manufacturing applications where these techniques are used. From equipment and machinery to a variety of structural components, metal often goes unnoticed. I wanted to shake up the industrial mind set a little bit by demonstrating the an artistic alternative for sheet metal fabrication. This metal tree sculpture represents the transformation of structural materials into something that is visually appealing. The photo was taken by Phil Parker on June 6, 2011. The camera angle and lighting provides an extra bit of drama to this understated, yet elegant sculpture.
