In honor of National Puzzle Day, I chose this photo – one that really puts all the pieces together. I enjoy that despite all of the curves and uneven edges, there are still distinct vertical lines running through the frame. They bring the eye upward, in a slightly calming wave. There is also a nice focus on the central horizontal swath of the image, where the texture of the pieces comes out. You can almost feel the slightly matte cardboard layer in your fingers as you gaze across the puzzling expanse. While it is all black, we know this is only one part of the puzzle – or possibly the back of it. There is a sense of excitement and mystery as we wonder what all these perfectly adjoined pieces are creating. For us, it is a great composition to look at!
