I adore the look of traditional British bath fixtures – such a nice blend of rustic and refined. This photograph captures a hot water tap at a bar in England (fitting, isn’t it?). The use of black and white in this composition brings out just the right about of contrast. The lighting shines off the metal and porcelain, giving us a cool glow contradictory to the bold word “HOT” emblazoned on the fixture. With use of shallow focus, the tap gets all of our attention. The sharp angle almost has me reaching out to turn the handle.
Well done, Nic McPhee! Thank you for posting your photo under creative commons.
