Iron & Light

iron and light
Believe it or not, I came across this photo completely unaware it was by Wednesday’s photographer, Les Chatfield. I can only assume he has a wealth of wonderful photographs shared under creative commons!

Les has titled his work “Iron and light,” and I cannot imagine a more apt name. We have not only the light from the sun, but the contrasting lightness between the strength of the iron and its delicate Victorian pattern. This includes the softness in the framing; the curve of the structure as it pushes toward us. The green discoloration is also a relief to eyes being bombarded by concrete. From the descriptions given in his comments, this is part of a bench. It looks like a lovely place to lighten one’s load.
