Let It Snow

The weather outside may be frightful, but isn’t this delightful? We always hear that every snowflake is unique, but it takes a special lens to show us. This photograph transforms the white fluff into delicate, sparkling crystals full of complexity. The light shining through them doesn’t overpower – it accentuates every shimmery detail. The use of black and white makes the image feel even more magical.  Here is what the photographer Andrew Magill had to say:

I was trying to get pictures of freshly-fallen snowflakes the other day. Unfortunately, the air was a little warmer than freezing, so I couldn’t seem to get any isolated without them just melting.
