Anodized Peacock

color anodizing options
This stunning photograph looks as if it were a painting, and in some respects that is what we are looking at. The bursts of color were created using an electrolytically-induced brush by Brazilian jeweler and silversmith Mauro Cateb. This is a process known as anodizing. With the use of different metals and voltages, there are numerous color anodizing options possible.

The curves in this image are surprisingly soft for being the result of metal and electricity. The colors fade smoothly into each other like watercolors on canvas, a warm glow at their center. With the photo’s framing, it appears as a proud peacock, proudly displaying its bright vibrant feathers. Gorgeous.

Thank you to Mauro, who also took this photograph and shared under creative commons. You are very talented!
