The Rain is Gone

helsinki street
It looks like the sun is out and the rain is gone. Taken on a summer day in Helsinki, people don’t seem to be in a rush. Making this photo black and white was a great choice considering the large amounts of pavement, likely only slightly different in color. It would be interesting to see the original in comparison, too.

The many textures in ground surface are brought out nicely, forcing the eye to acknowledge how much detail is before us. The shadows are incredibly crisp, and I love the way the lamppost points right at the open umbrellas, making it the focal point of the image.
