Unfurl

spiral staircase
Spiral staircases always have an artistic allure, reminding me of the works of M.C. Escher. The bright green punch of this photo caught my eye – it isn’t the typical neutrals seen in stately estates. The stairs resemble the serrated edge of a fern, unfurling gently towards the light. The window is saturating the foyer in a glow so bright we can’t see what lies outside. It is reminiscent of the sun beaming through the forest canopy.

In this hotel stairway, the built environment has merged seamlessly with the natural. Thank you to Shaun Dunphy for his fantastic eye and sharing with creative commons!
