This photo takes me back in time. I can feel the wheel between my fingers while dialing home from a friend’s house, the familiar resistance of the spring taking hold between each digit. The phone I recall wasn’t identical to this one, but they have their similarities.
The white walls and stack of copy paper give a very generic office-like appearance. There is also little contrast and a very dull glow in the lighting. If it weren’t for the machine’s button’s peeking out on the left, the viewer could believe this was captured 30 years earlier.
The phone has seen its share of use, with scuffs and residue marking its sunny golden surface. According to photographer Billy Brown, the item still (somewhat) works today. Thanks for sharing this slice of memorabilia with creative commons, Billy!
