The Domino Effect

I came across this photo after reading about Domino Day. Traditionally, domino tiles are white and black, but I enjoy the warm natural feel of this set. The red and orange tones are complemented nicely by the bright blue wall in the background. The straight lines and smooth curves bring a nice orderliness to the composition and reminds the viewer of the patience involved in playing the game traditionally or setting up tiles to fall. The light streams in slices, feeling somewhat protected and guarded. The tension comes in knowing that will all change once the tiles drop and brightness takes over.

This moment was captured by Tim Dutton and shared with creative commons. He reminds us all to take a break and play from time-to-time.
